CARING FOR YOUR PIECES

STERLING SILVER JEWELLERY

Pigment Studio pieces are made from .925 sterling silver, which requires care to preserve its appearance.

Tarnishing can occur when the sterling silver is exposed to chlorine, sulphur, humidity, perspiration, oils, perfumes, cosmetics and other strong chemicals. To prevent your jewellery from tarnishing, we recommend removing all pieces of jewellery before coming in contact with these sorts of chemicals, and storing in a safe, dry place when not in use.

Sterling silver jewellery can be cleaned with a soft polishing or microfibre cloth and a little silver polish.

GOLD PLATED JEWELLERY

All gold plated pieces are made from .925 sterling silver plated in 2 microns of 14 carat yellow gold. Gold plated jewellery requires extra special care to preserve its appearance.

Avoid contact with harsh chemicals, salty water, cosmetics and perfumes. Remove all jewellery before swimming, sleeping or showering.

Due to the nature of gold plating, some may experience natural fading/wear over time. Gold plating is not solid gold, and therefore should not be comparable to the longevity of solid gold pieces. If you wish to renew your gold plated piece, please reach out to info@pigmentstudio.co.nz to discuss.

If you have followed the care instructions above and have found your gold plating has worn significantly, we will re-plate your piece at no cost within 1 month of the purchase date. Proof of purchase is required. Any items purchased outside of this time frame will incur a fee for re-plating services.

GEMSTONES & PEARLS

All gemstones and pearls used in Pigment Studio pieces are natural and delicate materials and therefore require care to preserve the appearance of the piece.

Pearls are one such material that require extra special care to maintain their luminosity. Ensure pearls and other gemstones are not exposed to chlorine, sulphur, humidity, perspiration, oils, perfumes, cosmetics and other strong chemicals.

Spot clean your pearls and gemstones with a soft microfibre cloth to remove any residue before storing in a cool, dry place when not in use.
